Labour reports Boris Johnson to parliament’s standards watchdog

Labour has reported former Prime Minister Boris Johnson to parliament’s standards watchdog over a “quagmire of sleaze” engulfing him.

It’s alleged that BBC Chairman Richard Sharp helped the then PM arrange a guarantee on a loan for more than £800,000 – just weeks before Mr Johnson appointed Mr Sharp to the senior BBC role.

The loan was not recorded in the register of members interests, which could be a breach of the ministerial code.
