Man charged with attempted murder after group hit by car in London’s West End on Christmas Day

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a car was driven into a group of people in London’s West End on Christmas Day.

Anthony Gilheaney, 30, has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, the Metropolitan Police said.

Four people were taken to hospital after the incident on Shaftesbury Avenue, with one said to be in a life-threatening condition.

A car was driven onto the pavement outside the Sondheim Theatre, the London home of the musical Les Miserables in the heart of London’s West End.
